The client approached us in the midst of an unprecedented city construction boom in Buckeye, AZ. Summit Community Church is located at the outer edge of town but the town is rapidly building new infrastructure and homes all around the church as the region grows. Risepointe stepped in to help the church fully realize their goal of having an active courtyard, which is the doorstep to the community. The existing courtyard was originally intended to be utilized more but hasn’t been. The refreshed courtyard will have a large playground and covered canopy structure for community activities and special events and is intended as a public gathering place for the community. The church also hired Risepointe to help them reimagine their coffee bar and kitchen service experience for increased hospitality as well as a new 4,600 SF office addition attached to the existing church building. This will provide a much needed permanent space for the church staff in which they have been utilizing random spaces throughout the building as their office.

Project Info

Courtyard improvements to better accommodate childhood play and outdoor adult gathering and a place for the community to meet.
Interior alterations to expand coffee bar, kitchen service and redesign of the New Here / Next Steps kiosks for increased hospitality.
New 4,600 SF Office Addition attached to the south side of the existing church building. This building will be type II-B, fully sprinkelered which will accommodate individual offices, open office space, large conference room, and flex meeting spaces.
Redeploy a portion of the kids space back to the kids ministry where some staff currently use

Program

Design of a new office building attached to the existing church building. New offices will be approximately 4,600 sf of type II-B, fully sprinklered buildings to match existing. Program to accommodate individual offices, open office space, a large conference room and a couple of flex meeting spaces. Courtyard improvements to be made in space and function to better accommodate childhood play and outdoor adult gathering and community space. Redesign of the “new here” and “next steps” kiosks and coffee bar / kitchen service to better accommodate the needs of the church and community. Redeploy a portion of the kids' space.

Unique Opportunities

In the schematic phase, we were able to help the client fully realize how their perfectly positioned courtyard space was originally intended to be utilized. This will be a fun and engaging place the community of all ages will want to hang out in with a large playground set and covered patio space for games, relaxing, movies and special events. We also helped the client imagine what increased hospitality could look like inside their lobby with a large coffee bar and altered kitchen experience. And finally, we provided some great ideas for a modern office addition where all their staff will finally have their own place to call their own on the property.
